Denim Styles You Need This Fall

It’s September and we can all bask in the arrival of the best season ever! You can officially order a pumpkin flavored drink, throw some autumn decor up around the house and even pull out a hoodie or two. You CANNOT however put up a Christmas tree nor pull out the Mariah Carey holiday album. You also may NOT put on a pair of Jeggings or Skinny Leg Denim. I know, it’s a tough pill to swallow but as time and seasons change, so must your wardrobe. So I am here to give a roundup of all things denim just for you.

The goal is to elevate your wardrobe, right? Well if that’s the case them let’s start with the item universal to us all…JEANS. When the news dropped about the skinny jean ban, I was kind of surprised but then I thought about the last time I actually wore a pair of my own and interestingly enough, it had been some time. I don't even recall the last pair that I even purchased. I would say it’s been some years. The last few pair of denim I have purchased are featured in this blog post and NONE of them are skinnies.

Let’s set some ground rules going here:

  1. If your denim doesn’t have pockets…toss them

  2. If they are so stretchy that the waistband no longer fits…toss them

  3. If your denim does not have belt loops, they aren’t denim sis. They are leggings disguised as denim…TOSS THEM!

Here are 4 solid styles that will definitely get you through the colder months and into spring before we hop right back into swimsuits for summertime 2022.

Distressed Mom Jeans - most mom jeans are mid to high rise (because who can wear low rise anymore), relaxed fit and very comfortable. I love mom jeans styled with loafer flats or low top sneakers

High Waist Flare - yes, flares are back but not too over exaggerated. Flares offer a sleek and sophisticated look to pair with a nice heel for nights out on the town.

Straight Leg Ankle Mom Jean (90s style) - I like a little ankle action before it gets too cold out. Tuck in a button up shirt and throw on a pump or loafer and it gives a timeless and classic look without trying too hard. I’m thinking Jackie O vibes on a dress down day.

Distressed Straight Leg Baggy - for the gusty ones, these are for you. Distressed and baggy denim can be subtle or dramatic. I am the drama!!!! I love this style for an edgy street fashion look paired with oversized cardigans and blouses.

When building or rebuilding your denim this Fall be sure to diversify the washes. We are all about diversity and inclusion in these parts…mmmkay! Think about adding light, medium and dark washes in addition to black and grey washes and even white and off whites or cream colored denim.

I found some additional denim styles here and here that I have on my list. Actually, let me purchase them now before you grab them all!

I know some of you will ask…Can I wear my skinny jeans with my knee boots? Yes, you can. I plan to as well but my wear will be limited as there are so many other moments you produce with your knee boots. Sounds like my next blog post, huh? Stay tuned and glad to be back. In the meantime be sure to follow on Instagram where I will be showing different ways to wear your denim in a fun video :)
